There is no denying that in this day and age, we all have something on our iPhone that we never want to share with anyone else, for example, the text messages on our iPhone. So when we are determined to delete the text messages on our iPhone, it means that we want the text messages will be gone for good from our iPhone. In other words, we want to delete the text messages from iPhone permanently.
Here in this tutorial I would like to introduce how to delete the text messages from iPhone permanently.
Sync iPhone To iTunes
Since syncing with iTunes is what actually erases items you’ve marked for deletion, sync regularly. If you delete a text and then sync your iPhone, the message really will be gone for good.
All you need to do is to plug your iPhone to your computer and the your iPhone will begin to sync.
Restore iPhone from old iTunes Backup
If you have iTunes backup file on your computer that does not include the messages that you want to erase. Things turn out to be simple. All the messages that you don’t want any more will be overwritten and erased by restoring from old iTunes backup file.
Plug your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes.
Erase All the content and Settings
Before doing this, please make sure that you have backed up your iPhone and have an iTunes or iCloud backup file.
> Go to Settings>General>Reset.
> On the Reset screen, you’ll have a number of options for removing your iPhone’s content, if you are sure that you do want a clean iPhone, and want to get rid of everything currently on your iPhone including the text messages, please tap on the option of “Erase All Content and Settings.
This option means that you’ll not only erase all of your preferences, you’ll also delete all music, movies, apps and other data from iPhone.
> If Activation Lock is enabled on your phone you’ll need to enter your passcode at this point. With that entered, your iPhone will ask you to confirm that you really want to do what you’ve chosen.
> Tap Erase iPhone to confirm.
Back Up iPhone Text Messages Selectively
Deleting all the text messages from iPhone permanently dose not mean that you don’t the text message any more, you just want some of messages seen by others. You can still keep a record of all your iPhone messages by exporting all the text messages from your iPhone selectively.
All you need is a third party iPhone data recovery software. I would like to recommend iFonebox. Below are the detailed steps.
> Install and run iFonebox.
Note: iFonebox is available for both Windows and Mac, please choose the right version to download and install.
> Connect your iPhone to your computer.
> Click Start after your iPhone is recognized by iFonebox.
> Choose Messages to scan and export selectively by clicking the icon of Messages from the screen listing all the supported data categories.
> After the data scanning and analyzing is completed, all the text messages will be presented in a list.
> Please select all or the items you need to transfer to your computer for record keeping by clicking “Recover to Computer”.
