This apparently is not something new, but it was new to me as of yesterday. I had a portion of my iMessage conversation go missing from Friday, June 12. This is the first time this has happened and I want it to be the last. I also don’t seem to be having any luck getting the messages back and it would appear very few people do. If there is anything I am missing other than turning off and on or doing a restore please advise. Any suggestions are appreciated. I hope Apple gets this issue resolved. Thank you.
I am not sure how the iMessages simply “go missing”, chances are, some of the text messages are deleted manually. To recover the missing imessages, you can restore your iPhone from iTunes or iCloud backup. However, there is one thing you need to make sure is that the backup file contains the missing messages, in other words, you need to make sure the backup file is created before the imessages text was missing. Otherwise, it does not help at all. Worse still, it may overwrite the newly generated data after missing the text messages.
Fortunately, there are a number of third party iPhone data recovery software that can restore the missing text messages, directly and selectively. iFonebox is software of this kind which can recover the deleted text messages by scanning the iPhone directly and extract the messages selectively.
Below are the detailed instructions about how to retrieve the deleted text messages with iFonebox. Remember that iFonebox is available for both Windows and Mac, please choose the right version to download and install according to what kind of operating system you are running.
> Install and run iFonebox.
> Connect your iPhone to your computer.
> Click Start after your iPhone is recognized.
> Choose messages to scan selectively by clicking on the related icon from the interface listing all the supported data types.
> Wait until the data scanning and analyzing is completed.
> Preview the exported messages and locate the missing messages items by checking “Only display the deleted”.
> Hit “Recover to Device” to transfer the recovered imessages text to your iPhone.
