Actually, if you can’t remember the password for your encrypted backup, you can’t restore the encrypted backup without its password. However, with iOS 11 or later, you can make a new encrypted backup of your device by resetting the password. Here’re the detailed steps:

  1. Go to Setting> General> Reset
  2. Tap “Reset All Settings” then enter your passcode
  3. Now you can connect your device to iTunes again and create a new encrypted backup

  •   This won’t affect the existing data on your iPhone.
  •   If your iPhone with iOS 10 or earlier, you can’t reset the password.
  •   Still can’t use previous encrypted backup  unless you remember the password.
