My new iPhone XR back camera will not work but there is no obvious damage and the camera is not cracked. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!
Many iOS users can’t wait to update their old iOS devices to new iPhone XR for its advanced LCD, faster Face ID, the most powerful chip and a breakthrough camera system with Depth Control. However, some iPhone XR users in the apple community say there is something wrong with the iPhone XR camera.
Learn how to fix issues with the camera in your iPhone XR:
- Remove any case, film, or attachment
A case or film might block the camera or flash and affect performance. A metallic or magnetic case or camera attachment might interfere with optical stabilization. Test the camera without any of these to find out if they’re causing the issue.
- Clean the camera lens
If your photos are blurred, out of focus, or have dark spots, make sure that the camera lens is clean. If you need to clean the lens, use a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens, or the camera lens appears to be misaligned or blocked, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.
- Restart and test with different apps
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, restart your device. Then test your camera using the Camera app and and another app that uses the camera. If your device has a front and rear camera, check to see if only one or both aren’t responding. To switch cameras, tap the button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
What if your flash is not working?
- Try the flashlight in Control Center
On your iPhone XR, you should wipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen then click on the flashlight sign. If the LED flash doesn’t work as a flashlight, contact Apple Support.
- Check your settings
If the flash isn’t working, or it goes off every time you take a photo, check your flash settings.
- Check if your device is very warm or cold
If your device’s battery level is low and your device is very warm or cold, the camera flash and the flashlight might not work. These features will work again when you charge your device and return it to a more normal temperature.
